Tentative Schedule of ESA Activities for the 2010 Season South New England District February 20- ESA 42nd Annual New England Mid-Winter Surfing Championships at the Narragansett Town Beach or site close by. Entry fee is $20.00 per person. All rated events in all age groups. Contest is on call for night before at 401-789-1954. Call after 6:00 PM. April 17- ESA Newport Surfing Championships at First Beach in Newport, Rhode Island. Entry fee is $20.00 per person. All rated events in all age groups. Contest is on call. May 21-23- 2010 ESA East Coast Surfing Championships Northeast Surf-Offs at Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. Invitation only for qualified ESA district members. Contact district directors if interested in competing. June 19- ESA Massachusetts Open Surfing Championships at Nantasket Beach, Hull, Massachusetts. Entry fee is $20.00 per person. All rated events in all age groups. Contest is on call. July 3- ESA / Bic Sport Surfboards "Learn to Surf" free clinic- 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Wetsuits, surfboards and free instruction by ESA instructors. Participants must register in advance at Gansett Juice Surf Shop or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Beach and parking admission fees not included. Location: Narragansett Town Beach, R.I. July 9- 30- NRD Narragansett Surf League- 10 AM to 11:30 AM each Friday morning. Participants to meet at Lifeguard Chair #1. No equipment will be issued to participants. Signups at Narragansett Recreation Department (401.782.0658) with $15.00 fee to recreation department. Services donated. *Participants can be allowed to park in lot provided there is room. Coaches: Peter Pan and Ron Belanger / ESA Co-Directors. Location: Narragansett Town Beach, R.I. July 8-29-NRD Shred Betties- 2 PM to 3 PM each Thursday afternoon. Participants to meet at Lifeguard Chair #1. All participants must give their height, weight and age. Wetsuits and surfboards will be provided for those who need them. Signups at Narragansett Recreation Department. $60.00 fee to recreation department. Services donated. Rental fee per person per week $10.00 to be calculated at end of session. ($5.00 wetsuit/$5.00 surfboard) *Participants can be allowed to park in lot provided there is room. Instructors: Peter Pan and Matt Fraza. Location: Narragansett Town Beach, R.I. July 10- ESA Surfing Competition- 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM on call for the night before at 401.789.1954. Location: Narragansett Town Beach, R.I. July 17- ESA Cape Cod Surfing Championships at Whitecrest Beach, Wellfleet, Massachusetts. Entry fee is $20.00 per person. All rated events. Contest is on call. July 19-22, July 26-29 August 2-5, August 9-12- ESA South Kingstown Recreation Department Surf Camps. Four day camps take place at Matunuck Point, South Kingstown, Rhode Island from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM daily. Campers are issued their own rash guards to keep, surfboards and wetsuits to use for the duration of the camp. Sign ups and information at the South Kingstown Recreation Department (Phone number: 401.789.9301) August 7- ESA New England Standup Paddleboard Championships- 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM on call for the night before at 401-789-1954. Entry fee is $30.00 per event. Location: Narragansett Town Beach, R.I. August 14-ESA Surfing Competition- 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM on call for the night before at 401-789-1954. Location: Narragansett Town Beach, R.I. October 16- ESA Annual Northeast Surfing Championships on call for the night before. Location to be determined on that date. All rated events in all age groups. $20.00 entry fee. November 20- ESA Annual Holiday Surfabout is a backup contest that will run only if previous contests had been cancelled or postponed indefinitely. This contest is on a "on call" basis only.
